NOTRE-DAME CHURCH - CHAPEL OF THE COUNTS
Gothic church with a western facade, the nave, with a baroque interior, with murals and statues
Built in the 13th century, the Gothic church has retained its west facade, nave, transept and two towers. The heart of the church dates from the 14th century, as it was partly rebuilt after the battle of Westrozebeke in 1382. The Counts' Chapel is a personal mausoleum built by Count Lodewijk van Male. The Baroque interior was designed in the 17th century. See murals such as Antoon van Dijck's The Crucifixion and the exceptional statue of St. Catherine.
