TOWN HALL AND BELFRY
City Hall of classical style, dating from 1782, with sculptures decorating the pediment symbolizing the administration and justice.
Today's town hall in austere classical style dates from 1782. The sculptures on the pediment symbolise administration and justice. The 33 m high belfry was built between 1574 and 1610. The tower houses a carillon of 49 bells weighing almost 5 tons. The Cloth Hall and the Het Landhuis or manor house were also part of this group of buildings. The Menin Belfry was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999.
