LE CATERPILLAR DE WIM DELVOYE
Wim Devoye's Caterpillar with a gothic church, half backhoe, with the impressive sculpture of its offset
First presented in 2003 at the Beaufort Triennial, the Caterpillar flew to Ground Zero in New York. Finally, artist Wim Delvoye built a new example for the Belgian coastal shipping service, and it's this version that can still be admired today in Westende. Half Gothic church, half backhoe loader, the sculpture impresses with its discrepancy and its incredibly balanced symbiosis of two worlds that are, in fact, complete opposites.
