THE CHANNEL
The Carillon in Nieuwpoort, consisting of an amalgam of bell towers assembled over the centuries, regularly organizes concerts.
As early as 1413, the accounts of the City mention a carillon. Composed of an amalgamation of bell towers assembled over the centuries, the carillon did not have a very pleasant sound and was replaced in 1735, but it kept its role as a civil bellringer. The carillon tower was dynamited during the First World War. Wanting to perpetuate the tradition of the carillon in Nieuwpoort, it was decided in 1952 to install a new one in the newly built bell tower of the Notre-Dame church. Concerts are regularly organised.
