NOTRE-DAME CHURCH (ELEVEN LIEVE)
The main church of Nieuwpoort, standing near Marktplein, and home to the carillon that enlivens the day of the inhabitants.
The main church of Nieuwpoort has stood on this site since the second half of the 12th century near Marktplein. After its complete destruction by bombing in 1914-1918, it was rebuilt between 1920-1923, identically. In addition to being able to admire the interior of the building, one can now visit the crypt and the treasure room. The church tower is more recent, having been built in 1952. It now houses the carillon that animates the day of the city's inhabitants.
