DOORNPANNE
Nature reserve with a dune massif in Oostuinkerke, home to the Hoge Blekker, the highest dune in Belgium
Nature reserve encompassing a relatively small dune massif of 18 hectares, best known as the home of the Hoge Blekker, Belgium's highest dune, reaching a height of 33 meters. The central part of the Doornpanne is a "panne" or central interdune basin where sea buckthorn(duindoorn in Flemish) grows, hence its name. It is this landform that gave the name to the nearby town of La Panne. Family walks through the dunes are an ideal way to enjoy the coastal scenery of this region.
