HIPPODROME WELLINGTON
Situated just outside the city, the Wellington racecourse is another aspect of Royal Ostend and is named after the Duke of Wellington. From May to September, trotting and galloping races are organised. The racecourse was built in 1883 according to the Belle Époque style plans of the architect Antoine Dujardin. You will notice a crown on the round pavilion where the royal personalities present followed the races. The Wellington golf course on the racecourse grounds was designed in 9 holes, for amateurs. You can even take lessons there!
