MUSEUM SHIP AMANDINE
Museum ship Amandine in Ostend, housing a museum about the history and traditions of fishermen and fishing in Iceland.
This was the last Ostend boat to fish the Icelandic seas. The ship, a survivor from an era that is now definitively over, is 36 m long, 6.70 m wide, with a draught of 3.90 m and a fish storage capacity of 65 tons! It has to be said that the boats were at sea for months at a time. She returned to the port of Ostend for the last time in 1995 and has remained there ever since. Now fully renovated, it houses a museum on the history of sea fishing and the hard life on board, with reconstructed spaces and audiovisual presentations.
