TALBOT HOUSE
Talbot House in Poperinge, a place with a museum presenting the history of the house and a guesthouse.
Founded in 1915 by the English reverend Philip "Tubby" Clayton, the Every Man's Club was a welcome center for British soldiers returning from the front, and welcomed all ranks for a few restorative distractions, just a few miles from the front. At the entrance, a sign warns: "Pessimists don't come in!" Reverend Clayton had a very British sense of humor and an unfailing optimism, and even opened a bookshop. Today, the site houses a museum presenting the history of the house and a guesthouse.
