Saint Peter Church, whose arrow, erected 1729 by the priest of Lau, is 62 metres, is the oldest monument in the city. Exitant since 1105, its origin dating back to the Carolingian era. The low church, from the bell tower to the western facade, was built in the th century and underwent numerous transformations. The central nave is dominated by a monumental chair which appears to be worn by an abundance horn and is decorated with bas-reliefs representing the fathers of the church, Augustine, Ambroise, Jérôme and Grégoire, while under the shade of a dove the Holy Spirit inspires the Divine Word to the priest preaching. On both sides of the chair, the staircase with the rampes of palm trees and intertwined vines leads to the four statues statues. On the back, the chair seems suspended to a veil that, descended from a ogival arcade overhanging two pillars at a height of 17 metres, attracts eyes to the sky. The rococo chair carved in Danish oak is the work of two Tieltois, the Debosschere brothers, completed in 1857. Before leaving the church, see also the stained glass windows and the table of communion, dating back to 1765.
