THE HALL TOWER
Tour des Halles on the Grand-Place with a belfry classified as a world heritage site by Unesco
The Halles Tower, restored in 1986, is undoubtedly one of the jewels of the Tieltois centre. The building, located on the Grand-Place, opposite the hospital, also included a belfry, classified in 2000 as a Unesco World Heritage Site. The walls of the halls bear the coats of arms of the medieval lordships of the Verge of Tielt. Two hundred years old, the Tielt carillon has been restored to its original sound. It is the only one in Flanders to have kept all the bells cast by the famous founder.
