RAVENHOF PARK
The park surrounding the castle became a tourist office and a museum and the park containing exotic plants and trees
The Ravenhof site was located within the city walls. From the 16th century onwards, it was the residence of prominent families. In 1840, Dr. van Oye bought the estate. His son, the famous poet Eugeen van Oye, was born here. The next owner, the Couppé-Wostyn family, set up a shoe factory. In 1989, the site was bought by the town, which transformed the castle into a tourist office and museum of Torhout pottery. The park contains exotic plants and trees, and a flower garden for butterflies.
