WOSTYN MUSTARD MUSEUM
Mustard museum with explanations on the manufacturing process, with many utensils
The Wostyn family has been preparing its unique and spicy mustard for 5 generations already. Wostyn mustard is the oldest and most famous product in Torhout. The birthplace is located on Place de la Conscience, where there is a small shop where you can buy various products. Due to the lack of space, the production and the mustard museum are meeting you in a square, outside the city centre since 2004. You can only visit the museum in a group. Piet Wostyn himself is in charge of the visit. He will explain in detail the evolution of domestic mustard production until the end of the 18th century and its pre-industrial production from the 19th century onwards through a large number of utensils necessary for its manufacture. In addition to this collection, there is Roger Cause's pottery from Stasegem and some curiosities. You will no longer choose your mustard at random!
