Church composed of a single nave with barrel vault and a bell tower in Champoton
The construction of this church began in 1551 with the aim of establishing a Franciscan convent. In 1644, during an attack on the city, it was taken over by pirates. It was not completed until 1661. It has a single nave with a barrel vault and a bell tower and is dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy in memory of all the African slaves that the Spaniards forced to work in the region to exploit the wood of Campeche and the sugar cane.
