Formerly used as an office, this art deco building built in 1929 has gone to two fingers of demolition. Fortunately for architectural lovers, Hotel Giacomo has set up and now offers its services just steps from Niagara Falls. The lounge open every day at 17 am invites you to enjoy a cocktail at the corner of the fire and with residents who live in one of the 24 apartments also located in the building. All modern comforts linked to the prestige of a historic monument.

Price point wasn't bad, but it was one of my only choices in the area with most of the other hotels booked up.
The only positive is a very cool view, though, if you go to floor 19. It's a full 360 view of the area. I think only guests have access.
The hotel has some really cool engravings. I belive it was also the oldest hotel in the area.
For the price on the stay, there should be much more amenities offered, and you can see how they used to offer certain amenities, but don’t anymore.
For example:
- there were no robes in the room
- the (1) ice machine did not work and staff did not offer any solution to that
- the tv did not work half the time
- the bar had no food options at all
- despite being advertised, there is no option to have breakfast delivered to your room
- in addition to above, the breakfast was ‘ok’ but I have had better at holiday inn
- the rooms are decently decorated, but definitely have a an old and tired feel
- the hotel is marketed as ‘green’, which means that the plugs will shut off if there no movement detected for 45 minutes. Apparently green is in reference to their utility costs.
The only plus side to the hotel is location, which is very good. Near to the state park and right next to old falls street.
We booked the the Niagara Falls "American & Canadian Tour" which the hotel website states includes "The Giacomo Essential Survival Bag", but we received nothing. We called the hotel to book the tour weeks before but despite numerous follow up emails and calls, only received confirmatuon a couple of days before. We would recommend booking directly with Over The Falls Tours (that operate the one advertised on the hotel website) who were excellent and cheaper direct!
Our booking information mentioned room service breakfast, but when we asked, we were informed it was no longer offered. The lounge bar was not offering food due to equipment malfunction so we were left to find our own meals elsewhere during the stay.
The breakfast offering was very limited and was far from luxury boutique, with cheap plastic plates and knives, and a very limited hot buffet. The fresh fruit salad and bakery items were excellent, and the service was perfect. Overall, we've had better breakfasts in a budget hotel.
We discovered that, although the hotel has 19 floors, most of this is taken up by office and residential space, with the hotel being a minor part of the business - it shows.
Overall, for us, The Giacommo over-promised and under-delivered.
