An impressive maritime pilgrimage in emerald waters, in homage to the Black Christ, protector of the fishermen of Sisal.
Every year in August, the Cristo Negro (Black Christ) is carried from the church of the village of Hunucmá to Sisal, where it remains for about 20 days. On August 25, more than 200 fishermen's lanchas make a pilgrimage at sea following the Black Christ at the head of the boats. Dozens of families bring floral compositions that they throw into the sea to thank the Savior of Sisal. The whole community participates in this colorful event.
