ZONA ARQUEOLOGICA TOHCOK
A two-story palace and an astronomical and ritual observation building in Tohcok.
The visit is relatively quick. The first of the structures, about 20 meters long, must have been a two-story palace during the heyday of the site (Late Classic, 600-750 AD). Its attributes are typically Puuc; monolithic columns decorated with capitals and the presence of lintels to support the openings. The second would have been a building for astronomical and ritual observation. Its lower part is decorated with zoomorphic bas-reliefs typical of the region and its two lateral accesses are two vaulted galleries, also decorated.
