As early as kilometre 106, signs indicate the presence of bats. A little further on, on the left side of the road towards Xpujil, a path in the forest leads to a cave from where some 2 or 3 million bats come out every day to hunt for food. The spectacle is impressive, they come out and fly in an arc and brush against you without ever hitting you, thanks to their echolocation abilities. Nature in all its splendour and magic! Make sure you get there before nightfall, after visiting the ruins for example.
