MARUHUBI PALACE
The road leading to this palace is planted with large mango trees imported from India by the Sultan.
Sumptuously built in 1880, in coral stone and wood, it was the resting palace of Sultan Barghash and the residence of a hundred of his concubines. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed it in 1899, but today the roof of a huge Persian bath remains. The peaceful atmosphere and the view of the ocean are appreciated by the cows that come to graze around the collapsed columns and the remains of the Persian baths, now overgrown with lily flowers. The road leading to it is planted with large mango trees imported from India by the Sultan.
