SHABUTA SPICE FARM
A reasonably priced visit to understand the tradition of spice plantations intended by the first sultan of Zanzibar.
A classic tour of Zanzibar The visit is designed to understand the tradition of spice plantations established by the first Omani sultan of Zanzibar, Seyyid Said, in the 19th century, after the abolition of slavery. Spices were then imported from Southeast Asia, and were worth their weight in gold on the world market. The guides are erudite and the tour is fun, punctuated by tastings. The tour ends with a coconut climber's show. The price is reasonable, but the protagonists ask for tips and encourage you to buy the spices, as they do everywhere.
