CHEETAH'S ROCK
A new center for rescued cheetahs, because they have been injured by poachers, by farmers...
This center for cheetahs rescued from mistreatment has a booking schedule that is always full. These cheetahs are donated by rescue centers that have taken them in because they have been injured by poachers or farmers, or the parents of babies have been killed, abandoned by the men who kept them captive in their homes, or locked up in seedy zoos that let them wither away, circuses, etc. The intention is laudable, as these animals are better off in Zanzibar than behind the gates of an animal tyrant or dead in the bush, unable to fend for themselves. But let's be honest, these cheetahs have nothing to do with Zanzibar! To observe them, there's nothing like a safari on the mainland in the Serengeti plain (which can be booked by the day from Zanzibar). The animals have gone from being exploited by snipers to being exploited by tourists, becoming giant cuddly toys living in closed enclosures, unable to live on their own, that people come to pet and take selfies with. The center, which claims to "protect the species", took in two male cheetahs after the death of Tyson (very old), and hopes to take in two compatible females so it can start working on breeding cheetahs in captivity. Which would be a more serious objective than simply showing off the felines. You can also swim with a sea lion, see a white lion, zebras, lemurs... Admission, however, is expensive.
