AIRBOAT TOURS BY ARTHUR
Discovery of the German Bayou and its swamps populated by turtles, alligators and thousands of birds.
With 30 years' experience behind him, Arthur is gradually handing over the business to his son, Chad. A family affair, then, for these beautiful swamp tours. The airboats, flat-bottomed barges powered by a propeller engine, can take up to 15 people. The discovery of German Bayou and its swamps populated by turtles, alligators and thousands of birds is a pure moment of happiness. The sunset tour is magical. Departures depend on the number of people registered and the weather. Friendly, passionate team.

Following are the reasons why this far exceeded our expectations:
1. First and foremost, Chad, our tour guide! I can't imagine anyone more knowledgeable than him about the swamps and its wildlife. He was born and raised in these settings, he says, and it shows! Whether in the water, in the marshes, on trees, or in the sky, nothing escapes Chad’s keen scan of the vistas as you go along. Hearing little nuggets of interesting information on the flora and fauna of the area made this quite worthwhile. Plus, he is just a cool fellow who knows how to engage kids and adults alike. And of course, the close encounters he gives with gators (baby ones in hands, and 13-footers sticking their jaws couple of feet right into the boat!) is likely much more up-close and intense than others I had checked into.
2. The swamps we toured, Chad said, is private land—which means no other commercial traffic of tour companies. We found those particular swamps to be pristine, with a good amount of diversity between riverways, marshland, trees, etc.
3. Going into this, we were debating between airboat versus a plain old flat bottom boat. The 50,000+ raving google reviews of the Cajun Encounters Tour Company was very tempting. But I am glad we chose an airboat tour instead! It is simply a next level experience compared to a simple boat ride, no matter how amazing the swamps may be or not. Just the speed of the airboat and the wind in your face is thrilling itself, but what makes it more cool is how it cuts through smoothly through dense marshland—giving a surreal experience of a boat ride on “land”.
Un moment inoubliable (alligators, bébés alligators que nous avons toucher, aigles, rongeurs...), encadré par une personne experte, et surtout très sympa !
