Alykes, on the northern tip of Lefkimmi, is the main place where salt is made on the island. This rich ecosystem is home to migratory birds in transition and, if you are lucky, you may see a good number of flamingos swimming in the salt ponds. The site is well worth the trip. Especially since a small beach borders the fishing village: the water is beautiful and the lush nature makes it easy to find a secluded spot. A pleasant little tavern offers food and rest.
