Museum presenting beautiful collections of art and archaeology coming essentially from Autun and its surroundings.

Near Autun's Saint-Lazare cathedral, the Musée Rolin, which is undergoing renovation until at least 2027, is normally a must-see in the historic center. Housed in the 15th-century mansion belonging to Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor of the Dukes of Burgundy, it brings together art and archaeology collections, mainly from the surrounding area. In 2023, a major expansion project is underway to make these collections less cramped. It involves extending the museum into two neighboring buildings: a 19th-century circular prison and the former Palais de Justice.
