Castle where Pontus de Tyard was born, historical monument, Vignobles et Découvertes, restored rooms and vineyards to visit
It doesn't matter what you're looking for when you visit Château Pontus de Tyard: an encounter with history, heritage, a great man of the Renaissance, nature..., and even if you're not looking for anything in particular, because this castle meets all your expectations and much more! On the heights of Bissy-sur-Fley, this castle is revealed by going up a small road towards the car park. A few steps and an astonishing feeling of freedom as you enter the courtyard of the castle with free access. It is here, in the courtyard and in the converted outbuildings, that many events take place (see our agenda) organised by the Renaissance Association of the Château Pontus de Tyard, which has been restoring the château for 20 years. A castle listed as a historical monument, but also a Vineyards and Discoveries (for its conservatory vineyards) and Houses of Illustrious, since it saw the birth in 1521 of a great Renaissance man: Pontus de Tyard (see our box). In this family castle, a real fortified house, you will discover four large restored rooms and their imposing fireplaces, a medieval staircase, a seigneurial chapel... and latrines. Another beautiful discovery, wall paintings with floral motifs have recently been restored. Finally, a great novelty with a visit in augmented reality. Thanks to shelves, see on the screen the rooms of the castle as they were in the 16th century. In particular the library, which with its 2,000 books was one of the most important libraries of its time. A visit that naturally continues outside with the conservatory vineyards and conservatory orchard, the poetic garden, a walk in the Garenne, a RandoCroquis, a stroll in the footsteps of Pontus... Be curious, discover the Château Pontus de Tyard and make unexpected encounters!
