SANTA MARÍA DE LA MESA
Church of impressive proportions in Gothic style, one of the most beautiful works of this style in Andalusia
It's the town's main church, its tallest building and its visual icon - a bit like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, albeit on a smaller scale. Surrounded by a beautiful group of stately homes that are also well worth a visit, this church of impressive proportions is Gothic in style (15th century), but has undergone extensive Renaissance renovations, most notably in its Puerta del Perdón. One of the finest works of this style in Andalusia.
