One of the oldest Romanesque churches in Burgundy, with the only remnant of a Benedictine priory located in Chapaize
The church of Saint-Martin is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in Burgundy, built in the first half of the 11th century. It is the only vestige of a Benedictine priory that depended on the Saint-Pierre abbey in Chalon-sur-Saône. Its fame is due to the originality of its 11th-century Romanesque bell tower, which towers 35 meters above the surrounding countryside. Don't forget to complement your visit to the church with a tour of the village.
