ZONA ARQUEOLÓGICA EL TIGRE
Buildings that present various styles, with cultural influences in vogue in the region of Candelaria.
1,700 structures have been identified in this capital of the Acalán region, erected during the long occupation that lasted until the arrival of the Spaniards. The buildings still standing show a variety of styles, with cultural influences in vogue in the region (Petén, Río Bec, Tardif). The ceremonial centre, including the central square, is worth a visit; the pyramidal base preserves beautiful zoomorphic figures from the Preclassic period. Very little visited, not to be missed.
