At the entrance, the Plaza de la Entrada has some of the oldest buildings in the site. The building known as El Castillo is the highest in Yumil. It is located at the end of a long sacbé that runs under the forest. Its 5 levels and 17 meters of height are the result of two distinct construction stages. The first structure had only three levels: more than 200 objects in jadeite and shells were found there. Then the first temple was covered by two additional levels, crowned by the double temple that can be seen at the top.
