SWIMMING MUSEUM
It's a museum unlike any other, settled for a few years at the priory of Château de Lys in the heart of the small town located on Chissey-les-Mâcon. Created by Richard Alix, former director of swimming pools, passionate about his job, the museum traces the history of swimming in the sea, river or pool and the evolution of sports of swimming. You will see there: photos of champions, posters of sporting events, medals, paintings, postcards, a bathing suit of woman dating back to 1860 and two exceptional models representing a bath dating back to the 19th century and the first French pool in Paris built in 1884. The collections grow richer each year thanks to the research make by Richard Alix and to gifts. At Lys, there is no big lake or access to the sea but the museum offers a beautiful opening to the sea in the heart of the Mâcon.
