LE CHÂTEAU DE LA PERRIÈRE
This castle built in the century was a powerful feudal fortress
Built in the 12th century, the castle of La Perrière was a powerful feudal fortress. The ruins allow to recognize a square plan as well as four corner towers. The site occupied a strategic position on the Etang-Bibracte-Chalons axis as well as on the navigable river Arroux. It is assumed that the site was already occupied in Gallo-Roman times. The site is surrounded by a deep ditch. The site, open to the public, is the object of excavations and safeguarding. Near the castle, the visitor can discover the "cave of Lourdes".
