SITE FLUVIAL
At the end of the th century, the construction of the Centre Canal played an important role in the economic development of the Saône-et-Loire region and in particular the cities and villages crossed, including Génelard, at the crossing of the Charolais and the Minier mining basin. The canal has allowed transportation of the many raw materials extracted from the local basement. The port of Génelard was the starting point of the sculpted stones that served to pave the streets of Paris. The former port is also the starting point for recreational boaters, and is now the starting point for an interpretive road along one of the three trenches of the Centre Canal. On both sides, along this art book dug and entirely covered with stones, explanatory panels tell the transportation of goods, industries, the missing trades…
