DOMAINE CHOFFLET-VALDENAIRE
The estate dates back to the 18th century. Since then it has been transmitted from father to son or in the instance, from stepfather to stepson, thus the name Chofflet for the stepfather and Valdenaire for the stepson. From the mountains, the stepson, Denis, quickly integrated himself into the middle of the vineyard and fall in love with the Givry terroir. Now, this old piece reported to have become an added value one, is head of the 14-ha vineyards estate that consists exclusively of Givry, half of which is Givry Premier Cru. Among the designations produced by the estate, there is white Givry, Red Givry, Premier Cru Givry: Clos de Choué and Clos Jus rouge in red as in white. 70,000 bottles are sold on average each year, 40% of them abroad. It has to be said that Givry has gained in fame in the recent years. The reason for its success? Elegance, refinement that makes it very pleasant, very light and charms immediately. Which does not prevent it from distinguishing itself and having its own character. A character that Denis Valdenaire tries to preserve by working the vine while respecting the soil, the climate and the terroir. In short, you just have to taste… with moderation.
