CHATEAU D'ANCENIS

Classified as a historical monument, the castle of Ancenis stands facing the Loire River. The fortress is one of the bastions of the Marches de Bretagne. The entrance gatehouse was built at the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 16th century, and has a particular defensive device: a drawbridge precedes the portcullis, in a covered gallery, arranged in a baffle. The Renaissance house was built around 1529. Its facade, on the courtyard side, offers a decoration of the first Renaissance, the structure of the house as for it remains Gothic. It is in this room that exhibitions are held every year.
