CITE DES CLIMATS ET DES VINS DE BOURGOGNE
Cité des climats et vins de Bourgogne, offering wine discovery workshops, initiations and customized training courses
The Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne is a network of three wine tourism sites located in three towns: Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon, with three complementary visitor itineraries that highlight the specific winegrowing characteristics of each area, and pass on an age-old cultural heritage.
The Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne in Mâcon, the gateway to the vineyards of southern Burgundy and the birthplace of Chardonnay, is housed in the BIVB's Maison des Vins. A contemporary extension has been added, with curved forms inspired by the ammonite, which is very common in the region. The building can be spotted from afar thanks to a totem pole for some, a lighthouse for others. In fact, it's an evocation of the wooden press screw: this 17-metre-high promontory offers an exceptional view over the Saône and part of the city.
Inside, the 1,900 m² space is fluid, transparent and luminous. The layered scenography creates a new horizontal landscape throughout the visit, punctuating the spaces with luminous contrasts. Visitors discover the wines of Burgundy, and more specifically those of the Mâconnais, Couchois and Côte Chalonnaise regions, highlighting the vineyards of southern Burgundy.
For adults: a 370 m² tour to understand, share knowledge, taste and educate. The tour is accompanied by the voices of the men and women who work in the vineyards every day, sharing their passion and passing on their knowledge. Connected tour via a bracelet that analyzes your visit profile for the day. Answers at the end of your visit.
For children: a dedicated trail introduces you to the vine cycle and the animals and insects of the vineyard. Booklet of games to reserve online and pick up at reception.
The Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne in Mâcon also offers oenological discovery workshops, introductory courses and tailor-made training courses, making the site an essential part of the Saône-et-Loire region since its opening in May 2023.
If you're looking for a unique, innovative place to discover the richness, variety and subtlety of Burgundy wines, you've come to the right place in Mâcon, at the gateway to southern Burgundy.
Discover a selection of Burgundy wines, by the glass or bottle, to enjoy with a platter of charcuterie or cheese at Press'Bar. We also organize themed after-works, so don't miss out!
