APOTHICAIRERIE DE L’HOTEL-DIEU
Apothecary's shop on the first floor of a hospital still in operation in Mâcon, able to accommodate a group of 10 visitors in wheelchairs.
Situated at the heart of the Hôtel-Dieu, built in 1761 to plans by architect Germain Soufflot, the apothecary's has retained its original décor. The vast ground-floor room offers a wonderful plunge back in time, with its Louis XV wood panelling in burr ash and elm. In the imposing glass-fronted cabinets, one can admire the very important collection of rare earthenware medicine jars, some of which come from a factory in Mâcon.
