Built in 1705 by the great grandfather of the poet, the house of Lamartine is situated in the centre of a vast wine-growing area formed in the th century. It is in this very simple house, which has a large, closed courtyard, with a floor that the little Alphonse de Lamartine passed a sweet and happy childhood from 1794 to 1801. The poet was very attached to this home, but he had to sell it because he was too endetté. The house now belongs to the family of Sornay and is a private property.
