MONKEY FOREST
Splendid forest for a pleasant walk to discover monkeys and a temple housing a remarkable Garuda statue.
As you enter the forest, you also enter the epic of the Ramayana. This splendid forest, with its nutmeg grove, provides just the right amount of freshness. The legend comes from the Ramayana , where this forest is quoted: "Hanuman, chief of the Monkey army, wanted to kill Rawana, Rama's great enemy, but on his way he dropped a piece of the sacred mountain Mahameru, with its monkey population, at Sangeh." The forest conceals many monkeys. In the center, the temple of Pura Bukit Sari contains an interesting statue of Garuda.
