CHÂTEAU DE LAMARTINE
This castle, labeled "Maison des Illustres", can be discovered thanks to guided tours.
In 1801, Pierre de Lamartine, father of the famous poet, purchased the medieval château de Saint-Point. Alphonse de Lamartine then received it as a gift on his marriage to the young Englishwoman Mary-Ann Birch in 1820. Alphonse de Lamartine undertook the construction of an entre-deux tours, a gallery with terrace, a Gothic porch, other outbuildings and an English garden. Left as it was, but restored in 2020, the château is open to the public on guided tours. It has been awarded the Maison des Illustres label.
