Discover prehistory in the departmental museum through a collection of rich European prehistoric sites.
At the foot of the majestic Roche de Solutré, the Musée de Préhistoire is a vast, completely buried building. It presents collections (laurel leaf flints, cave bear skulls, mammoth molars, engraved rhinoceros ribs...) from one of Europe's richest prehistoric sites, frequented for over 50,000 years by men who came here to hunt. Workshops for children are also organized. Outside, a huge archaeological and botanical trail evokes geology, prehistoric hunting and the landscape of the past.
