LA ROCHE DE SOLUTRÉ
Solutré-Pouilly, a beautiful prehistoric site that contributes to the reputation of the Sud-Mâconnais region
This impressive limestone escarpment, comprising the Roches de Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson and Mont Pouilly, has been occupied by man since prehistoric times. Its landscape has been shaped by the settlement of villages and agriculture, contributing to the magic of the place today. But it is above all a major archaeological site, made famous by its laurel-leaf flints, giving the name "Solutréen" to a culture dating from 20,000 to 16,000 BC. Protected and developed, the site offers magnificent walks.
