ÉGLISE SAINT-JACQUES-DE-COMPOSTELLE
Church built in the 12th century, with a bell tower dating from the 18th century and an interior with a wooden sculpture in Asquins
If the basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine is considered as the starting point of the pilgrimage to Compostela, the church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur (classified as a world heritage site by Unesco) represents much more than a first step. Built in the 12th century, it has been modified over the centuries, the bell tower dating from the 18th century. Inside, a wooden sculpture representing Saint James (late 16th-early 17th century) houses a cavity that would have contained his relics.
