The Auxerre Tourist Office has set up three urban walking itineraries on the theme of "Nature in the City". That's right: in Auxerre, you don't have to go far to see something green, just go to the office to ask for the brochure (or download it from the Internet), and off you go! A 7.3-kilometre walk through the town along the banks of the Yonne, on the theme "Between mineral and vegetable". You'll pass by the Quai du Batardeau and the old canal towpath, before arriving at the Clos de la Chaînette vineyard. The itinerary draws your attention to the presence of nature in the city's built heritage, and the diversity of plant species that inhabit the green spaces of Auxerre.
