From the feudal castle remain the chapel and a vault where the lords of Villarnoux were buried
The traces of the fortified castle of Villarnoux go back to 1212 before it was destroyed in the 15th century. This disgrace was caused by the lord of Villarnoux, who had chosen the camp of Marie de Bourgogne, daughter of Charles the Bold, and not that of his sovereign, who asked his lieutenant Charles d'Amboise to ruin all his castles. The building was rebuilt in the 15th century, just a stone's throw from the old one. The chapel and a vault where the lords of Villarnoux were buried would remain from the feudal castle. Research by the Centre de castellologie de Bourgogne (CeCaB) has brought to light a beautiful horseshoe-shaped building covered with flat Burgundy tiles.
