ÉGLISE SAINT-PIERRE
A fine example of Burgundian architecture, the church of Saint-Pierre has only three bays in Chablis.
A parish church dating from the end of the 12th century, in transition from Romanesque to Gothic, it was saved from total destruction during the Revolution by the resistance of the inhabitants of the Saint-Pierre suburb. Bought by 17 local winegrowers and burghers, the church now only has three bays, the choir having been destroyed at the end of the 18th century. A fine example of Burgundian architecture. Unfortunately it cannot be visited. There is a circuit of churches in the Chablis area, ask the tourist office for information.
