Visit of a church in Chitry, to discover its impressive round tower, revealing beautiful machicolations and loopholes
The fortified church of St. Valerian originally had four towers, three of which have survived to this day. The most impressive, the round tower, reveals beautiful machicolations and loopholes. Architectural elements attest to the existence of a 12th century church. The bell-tower-porch and part of the nave date from the 13th century, and the fortification was built in the 14th century. This church has been registered in the inventory of Historic Monuments since 1905. During your trip in Chablis country, don't hesitate to stop there!
