The Saint-Adrien church located in Mailly-le-Château is a magnificent example of a fortified religious building from the 12th and 13th centuries.
A magnificent example of a fortified religious building from the 12th and 13th centuries. Majestically seated on the large square in front of the town hall, the church imposes its atypical architecture with its high tower similar to a belfry, and its curious statues that adorn its pediment: we can see three manants, bent under the weight of their misery, with a large Lady in the centre. This lady is none other than Countess Mahaut who consecrated the church in 1220. Unfortunately, the building is only open during mass hours, and during the few concerts organized during the year.
