LA MAISON DES PIERREUX
A house that explains how stone was quarried and cut in Massangis from the century to the present day.
Close to the Hervaux forest, Massangis owes its worldwide renown to its stone quarries, which have been in operation since the 12th century. They helped build (among other things) the Pont d'Iéna, the legs of the Eiffel Tower, the Russian Orthodox Cultural Center in Paris, and even - more recently - a building in Chicago! The Maison des Pierreux (which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024) retraces the history of these quarries with period photos and site machinery, giving us an insight into stone quarrying and cutting from the 19th century to the present day.
