A few kilometers north of Auxerre is L'Érable, run by Hervé Guimard. Here, he offers home-style cooking steeped in local traditions. The menu and dishes are simple, with undeniable value for money, and in fine weather can even be enjoyed on the terrace beside the Yonne. On our visit, we were treated to epoisse eggs, followed by grilled andouillette de Troyes, and finished with a classic yet tasty vacherin. There's also a fine selection of local wines. A catering service is also available.
