A few kilometers north of Auxerre is L'Érable, run by Hervé Guimard. Here, he offers home-style cooking steeped in local traditions. The menu and dishes are simple, with undeniable value for money, and in fine weather can even be enjoyed on the terrace beside the Yonne. On our visit, we feasted on Burgundy snails, followed by entrecôte au gratin with Epoisse cheese, and finished with a classic yet tasty floating island. Note the fine selection of local wines. A catering service is also available.
